Booking Tips
How To Find The Lowest Fares
-
Generally, the best fares are available on Tuesday through
Thursday.
-
A Saturday night is usually required for the lowest fare.
-
Avoid holiday periods as low fares may be sold out or blacked
out during these times. Peak travel periods (and highest fare periods)
are from mid March to mid April, early June to late August and mid December
to mid January. If you must travel during these periods, book as
early as possible.
-
Purchase your tickets at least 21 days in advance to take
advantage of advanced purchase discounts.
-
Read about the most recent airlines sales and discounts in
our "Specials" page.
-
In the case of emergency travel involving the death or serious
illness of a family member, all of the airlines offer a bereavement fare.
These fares generally must be booked directly with the airlines.
The rules and discounts involved vary from airlines to airlines so shop
around. Be aware that many times, "bulk" fares that we offer, if
available, may still be lower than the airlines can offer.
|
-
Become an informed shopper. Know that each airlines
offers between 6 and 10 fare classes or levels in coach, each with their
own restrictions and penalties. The fare you will ultimately receive
will depend on the availability of seats in a given fare class and the
amount of restrictions and penalties you are willing to accept. As
an example, fares between Honolulu and Los Angeles can vary between $219.00
and $1850.00 in coach. The highest fare would be for a last minute
purchase and is fully changeable and refundable without penalties while
the lowest fare may require a 21 day advanced purchase and is non-changeable
and non-refundable.
-
Be flexible in your travel dates and times. Many times
there will be a lower fare available if you are able to depart a day earlier
or later than planned. The more flexible you are in your travel plans,
the more opportunities we have to save you money. Routing is also
an important factor in saving money. If you are willing to make one
or two plane changes, we may be able to find a lower fare by combining
sale fares offered through different cities. As an example, a non-stop
flight to Dallas could cost $759.00 while making a single stop and plane
change in Los Angeles could drop that figure to as little as $509.00.
