Mt Fuji and Hakone Day Tour (Return by Bullet Train

Price: From USD $126.59 View price guide

Duration: 11 hours (approx.)

Commences: Tokyo , Japan

Mount Fuji (Fujisan) is with 3776 meters Japan 's highest mountain. It is not surprising that the nearly perfectly shaped volcano has been worshipped as a sacred mountain and experienced big popularity among artists and common people.

Mount Fuji is a dormant volcano, which most recently erupted in 1708. It stands on the border between Yamanashi and Shizuoka Prefectures and can be seen from Tokyo and Yokohama on clear days.

Note however, that clouds and poor visibility often block the view of Mount Fuji , and you have to consider yourself lucky if you get a clear view of the mountain. Visibility tends to be better during the colder seasons of the year than in summer, and in the early morning and late evening hours.

Drive along the expressway to Mt. Fuji - Depart from Tokyo to enjoy a scenic drive aboard a deluxe motorcoach to Mt.Fuji (3,776m - 12,388ft).

Fuji Visitor Center- Nature, culture and artwork concerning Mt.Fuji are on display. Visit Peace Pagoda located on the way to Hakone when the center is closed (Mondays).

Drive up Mt. Fuji 5th station- (altitude 2,305m). The natural scenery en route is sure to impress.

Lunch at a local restaurant- Enjoy western-style lunch at a restaurant. Vegetarian food is available on request.

Cruising on Lake Ashi- Let the crisp air and surrounding scenery refresh you.

Mt. Komagatake Aerial Cableway Ride an aerial cableway up and down Mt.Komagatake for a sweeping view of celebrated Hakone National Park . During summer holidays (from July to August) the cableway may not be included in tour.

Proceed to Odawara and board a Shinkansen train for Tokyo- Drive to Odawara Station and board a world famous Shinkansen super-express for the return journey to Tokyo . (in summer holidays the Shinkansen train will return at 9:30pm in Tokyo ).

Tokyo Disneyland Resort

By all accounts Disneyland Tokyo is quite a bit like the original Disneyland in California . Peruse the list of attractions on the official Disney Tokyo website and you'll find the standard fare you've come to expect from the American Disney parks. So what's the big deal? To be honest, we're not so sure. Our best guess is that the park is primarily for Japanese natives who can't get enough of all things Disney.

Of course, if you're a Disney completist you'll have to visit Disney Tokyo. Otherwise you might want to consider the sister attraction at the Disney Resort - Disney Sea . If for no other reason because you can actually drink beer at Disney Sea .

Tokyo Disney Sea Park

Located at the Disney Resort next to Disneyland Resort Tokyo, the park offers water rides and amusements in themed ports, such as "Mermaid Lagoon" and " Mysterious Island ". While we'd probably choose to spend our time in Tokyo doing something more - well, Japanese - Disney Sea is at least an original concept that varies quite a bit from the Disney theme parks in other parts of the world. Plus they serve beer.

Shopping

Akihabara ( Electric Town )

If you've come to Tokyo looking for a deal on a new camera or the latest consumer electronic gadget, this is the place to be. Fifty square blocks of massive electronics stores. It's like taking a space trip and landing on planet transistor. Perhaps the most incredible part of the Akihabara experience is that so many of the stores appear absolutely identical in terms of variety and price. Also be aware that the latest computer and PC gadgets are definitely aimed at the Japanese market, so unless you feel comfortable typing in Kana, you're not likely to find an enticing deal on the latest hand held computer.

Ginza

Ginza (which literally means "silver mint") is one of the largest and oldest shopping districts in Tokyo . Most of the upscale stores in this area have more in common with stores you would encounter in a modern western shopping district. There's even an Apple store here - the first ever opened outside of the United States .

Home of the famous Ginza Lion beer hall, the district is said to feature over 400 art galleries and numerous department stores.

If you're looking for a long day of shopping, Ginza is probably a good bet. Just remember to check your credit limit before you start your day.

Shibuya

Shibuya is a trendy shopping district that caters to a young and upscale crowd. It's quite a bit hipper than Ginza and the large number of restaurants, bars, and theaters in this area make it the perfect destination for a fun night on the town.

As you're crossing the street from Shibuya station take care not to be run over while ogling the multiple huge television screens that seem to dominate the area. It's been said that Shibuya is the home to more multi-story high TV screens than anywhere in the world.

Interesting trivia: The Tower Records in Shibuya used to be the largest record store in the world (a distinction now apparently held by the Virgin Megastore in Time Square New York). While it may no longer be the largest record store, it does feature a huge selection of music as well as a very large selection of English language books and magazines
