The 40-acre Grand Wailea Resort Hotel and Spa is about a 15-minute drive from the Humpback Whale National Marine Sanctuary and Makena State Park and approximately 20 miles from Kahului Airport . This location is also a 25-minute drive from Maui Ocean Center , a 55-minute drive from Lahaina Town , and an hour drive from Hookipa Beach Park and Makawao.

The resort's amenities include the waterfalls, koi ponds, tiki torches, 64,000-square-foot shopping esplanade, and $100-million art collection. Spa Grande is a 50,000-square-foot, two-floor health spa with water and mud baths, treatments, massages, beauty salon, two-floor fitness center, racquetball/squash court, and health/nutrition counselors and personal trainers. The Wailea Canyon Activity Pool includes a 2,000-foot river that meanders through nine separate pools (including a sand-bottom toddlers' pool), seven waterslides, waterfalls, caves, white-water rapids, grottos, spa, sauna, and a water elevator. Camp Grande has a children's game arcade, computer room, restaurant, and movie theater. Dining is available at Humuhumunukunukuapuaa (local seafood), Kincha (Japanese), Grand Dining Room, Bistro Molokini, Cafe Kula, and Volcano Snack Bar. Grotto Bar (swim-up bar in the Wailea Canyon Activity Pool) and Botero Gallery Bar are also on site. The beachfront activity center rents out snorkel sets, scuba sets, ocean kayaks, boogie boards, hobie-cats, and other beach gear.
